Just yesterday when I posted this great and one of the best ghazals of Faiz Saab, I wondered which other ghazal could match the intensity, the depth, and the texture of Phir Aaina e Alam, and then it dawned upon me that in my collection, I have a very good contender. It’s Chand Nikle Kisi Janib by Faiz Saab and beatifully sung (as always) by Farida Khanum.
I am making it available here for download. Just right click and save it. I bet you will love it.

No one I believe sang Faiz saab like Nayyara Noor has. Her sweet, enchanting and magical voice transcends the listener to a feeling that’s hard to express. One such great composition by the great Arshad Mehmood is for this ghazal Phir Aaina E Alam.
I fell in love with it the first time I heard it on a TV show. And then, now that I’ve got the mp3 version of it, I am sharing it hear for all the admirers of Faiz saab and Nayyara Noor. Listen to this one, it’s simply brilliant and a class act and represents so much that’s going around in this ill fated country.

I first heard this unplugged version of Aitbaar when it was played by Vital Signs and Aamir Zaki on the program “Top of the pops” (if I recall correctly). I found it better than the regular version of the song. So long after that, a few days ago, I recorded my own voice on it. Enjoy

Deeply saddened by his death, today I thought to pay a tribute to my music teacher, Ustad Zafar Ali Khan, who passed away last month. As deeply sad as I am about to know that he is no longer with us, I went down the memory lane to recall the classes I took with him last year. I found out about him through announcement made by T2F (the second floor) on facebook. I got enrolled to find out (lucky for me) that I was the only student there. I met Ustad Sb. He was charming, friendly and of course superbly talented.
We started off with the basics and proceeded to a few raag and raagnis. Of course I never...

Asif Hafeez is a very talented and young bass guitarist hailing from Karachi, Pakistan. I recently found out about his bass solo and thought to share it with you guys. Listen to it and share your feedback. He claims that this is the first every bass solo in Pakistan. I personally really like it.

I really like Tina Sani. Her calm mesmerizing voice and her way of singing ghazals has made her the choice of ghazal listeners all around the world. While Bahaar Aai, Koi Baat Karo, Ye Haseen Shaam etc have been my all time favorites, I am just absolutely in love with this Ghazal, Gar Mujhe Is Ka Yaqeen Ho… written by another legend, Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
One can clearly feel the pain and helplessness Faiz has conveyed through the lyrics. Tina Sani has sung that equally well. So without much ado, here’s the ghazal for download.
